Kumari Amman Temple- Situated in Kanyakumari, this 3000 year old temple is dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanyakumari. It is the first Durga temple by Lord Parsurama and one of the 108 Shakti Peeths. The most fascinating thing is the diamond nose ring of Kumari Amman that is visible even from the sea. The light from the ring helps the mariners in leading to lighthouse. The Eastern door of the temple is always closed except when the deity is taken for ceremonial bath. One should visit the temple during the car festival in May-June and the Navratris.

Koodal Azhagar Temple- The temple is situated in Madurai and is quite famous; it is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. One of the unique features of the temple is the 3 different postures of the Lord at 3 levels of the sanctum. The main shrine has beautiful and intricate colorful carvings.
Karpaga Vinayagar Temple- It is ancient rock cut temple dating back to 1600 years. The presiding deity is Pillayar or Ganesha. It is one of the only two temples in the world that show Vinayagar with two arms; the other is in Afghanistan. The Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for 10 days with grandeur here. This temple is most famous for the rock cut Vinayagar (Ganesha) sitting majestically inside a cave. The inner sanctum of the temple is lit up with oil lamps. It is only during the holy bath where you get to see the full idol.
